Something Borrowed

Posted by Coast Side Babe | Must Reads | Saturday 28 May 2011 9:20 pm

I had so much fun watching the movie with my girlfriends that I am finishing the book today. I think, the book is much more exciting but the cast in the movie portrayed their parts pretty well, except for Marcus, I think the character in the movie doesn’t fit the book too well. Anyway, here the official trailer of the movie…

and here is the book that I am reading right now…

Something Borrowed Novel

The novel centers around the protagonist and narrator, Rachel White, a thirty-year-old single woman who is a consummate good-girl. She and Darcy Rhone have been best friends since childhood, and hard-working Rachel is often in the shadow of flashy, sometimes selfish Darcy. Then, after a night of drinking on Rachel’s thirtieth birthday, she sleeps with Darcy’s fiance, Dex. After this turns into an affair, Rachel explores the meaning of friendship, true love and ethics.

June is coming soon, how time flies. I’m so excited with our planned trips but June also means that we are due updating our insurance and I have to do everything before our vacation. Something tells me that the first week of June will be hectic, meeting all deadlines before our vacation in Hawaii. Anyway, just today I already filled my first 2 days of June and I might meet with our insurance agent Friday morning. We’ll see what happens with my schedule before the 3rd week and I am not even done with my Summer shopping! My goodness! :D

Going to Jersey

Posted by Coast Side Babe | My Everyday Musings | Saturday 28 May 2011 9:05 pm

We are off to Jersey tomorrow. A friend of mine will have a house warming for his manufactured home built early May. He is single and very much available. He recently broke up with his girlfriend and concentrated in having his dream house built in time for his target year which is this year. I am very proud of him, he came a long way from being born in a class C family, whatever that means. He uses that category all the time and now he is living his dream life, sans his dream family of a housewife and 2 kids at age 30. He is now 32. Anyway, at least he has a home, so by the time he finds the right girl, he has a home he can bring her to. Well, good luck to him! :D

I love JCrew. I think they appear fresh and vibrant, the two nice words I always I associate with them. And h us close to Summer, it would not hurt to take a peek at their site where everything is a breath of fresh air, IMHO. It’s all about linen and they all look so yummy!

Linens are basic, everybody should have a piece or two in their closet. I find it really cozy and of course, comfy!

Job Fair in NYC

Posted by Coast Side Babe | My Everyday Musings | Friday 27 May 2011 5:42 pm

I haven’t been to any job fairs here in our place. It’s always about glam, about fashion so when a friend of mine who is into events planning asked me to come with her in a job fair that they organized, I came. I didn’t know that there are so many participants, I was expecting a small space with a few stalls but this was done in a convention center, high ceilings, with big round tables and so many stalls and I was so surprised to know that there are still so much vacancies to hire employees. Like these tech jobs that I’ve always wanted to do for the longest time until I’ve decided that I am better at freelancing and that I have an eye in fashion. If only I knew about this job fair weeks before, I would have invited a couple of yuppies that I met over coffee while waiting for my client at Starbucks.

Trying to Quit

Posted by Coast Side Babe | My Everyday Musings | Friday 27 May 2011 5:29 pm

I had bad habits before like drinking too much alcohol during parties, but that was then, when I was single, is not yet a mother and who partied all the time but it was nothing out of the ordinary, nothing alarming, nothing worth an AA participation. My husband exercises because he loves food and fashion and would still want to fit in his very sexy Armani suit so what he does is run regularly, the only thing that bothers  me is his smoking, it is a love and hate relationship, sometimes he tries to quit but goes back to the habit. I was telling him the other day to really try hard quitting. There is an e cigarette that might just do the trick and get him to start to finally quit. He said he will think about it, I hope he does because his age, he should really start getting it right.

I’m sure my husband and I will have dinner date in Hawaii and I want to wear a dress if ever we will have one, I think I want to try wearing maxi dresses, they are so in right now. I got a few peeks from Net-A-Porter and here are my faves.

Aspiring Model Friend

Posted by Coast Side Babe | My Everyday Musings | Monday 23 May 2011 10:51 pm

I have a friend who is aspiring to be a model. I definitely think that it is high time for her to aspire for her dreams. She is 5’10 in height and has a very slender body. Very angular face but soft features and she has light brown hair that has little lights, more looking like highlights. She has bluish gray eyes and thin lips. We always tell her she should become a model and just 3 months ago, she has decided to go for it and she had done numerous auditions. Before doing auditions, she had a makeover, bought a couple of really nice outfits and went to the dentist to get her teeth whitened. Cash Advances were the key to spend so much for all these stuff. Since she is in a rush to get things done, she chose this kind of loan to get by. It is very quick and easy and the paper works are very minimal. She got the money in no time and she was so excited to tell the news to me. I actually shopped a few items for her. She wants to achieve different looks in her portfolio. I got a few items from Banana Republic, Forever 21, Old Navy, we even got a few items from different vintage boutiques because she wanted to include looks from the 40s and 60s. Lucky her, she has friends from all fields of fashion, we have an aspiring friend who is also a make up artist and was very willing to do the make up for her. I was there to dress her up during a few photo sessions and I think she is so pretty. We might go to another shopping spree, she wants to add a princess look in her portfolio and I suggested that she rents a gown and maybe a bridal gown too, to get some pretty bridal photos. I am very hyped especially when I got the news today that she will be one of the models in a fashion show in Manhattan next month.
